But I survived a 9 year old slumber party being knocked out from exhaustion, apparently there was a candy rendezvous snack at 3am, zzzzz. That was after a groovin and shakin disco evening.
I talk about real life often because there is a tendency on social media for everyones lives to appear pristine and perfect I can assure the life of a CEO, single mum of four and Life Coach is not always so conventional.
Grateful though! What it is, is an adventure and an opportunity to be creative and productive on a large scale and to learn constantly and grow from the learnings being applied through experience. It was the gift of studying Life Coaching, meditation and growing up with dysfunction and later psychology in my family that afforded me an enquiring mind and the passion, that’s just home grown Tasmanian Maz heart!
I got a random call from this week from another CEO enquiring about Life Coaching and he asked me about clarity and communications when speaking with staff and how to generally improve yourself in relationships with others in a work place culture.
I thought this would be a good topic for the body of this weeks blog. Lets firstly look at communication, the top keys to good communication is:
- having a purpose
- clearly composing what you’re going to say
- delivering it calmly and clearly
- listening to your feedback
- analysing the feedback and learning
- making any changes and improving
Often managers deliver the communication but fail to listen to the feedback, this can limit the managers ability to grow in their role and develop the original idea being delivered. A smart manager will know an idea that can be developed a group with many perspectives is often better than an idea that comes from one.
Let’s face it, if you’re really smart you will know that your feedback is actually going to benefit you be it positive or negative feedback. If I have chosen someone to manage a project and they give me feedback that means I have to adjust the project somehow I will take it on board and analyse and develop the idea with them and sometimes others. Don’t be afraid of exploring idea potentials with your team, even if at first they don’t sit easily with you.
I can’t say often enough meditation practise allows you psychological space to achieve this, it keeps the canvas (mind) blank long enough for a new idea develop and frees the body of the emotional content of the past that can often cloud new experiences. Here is a link to an article I found a few weeks ago about how mediatation can help those in big business http://www.newyorker.com/books/page-...n-for-strivers
Here is an APP that is a great intro to modern mindfullness http://buddhify.com/
From a meditative mind clarity evolves, whether it is a focus on some particular project or taking your mind away from the project and focussing on something else quite often than not this practise can provide the results you want. The results your looking for are available to you always, it is just about faith, persistent and getting the combination right. Life Coaching is a great reflective tool to practise the skills for communication and clarity.
You know when things get intense in a workshop or meeting and you hit a wall, this is a good time to strip off into your lycra costume, get up and do some exercise. Try it next boardroom meeting and get some blood pumping and music romping before you go back to the drawing board and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the results. Here an inspirational video!
Hope you all have a good week and for Life Coaching appointments contact info@mazmuse.com and dont forget to pack your lycra and smile!
