This movement has taken off right around the planet. We understand that independant fiscal forces control our governments and control our freedoms....and we are simply over it!
    Bloodless Revolution...Peace for Rights!

    Reclaim Your Democracy.

    http://occupymelbourne.org/

Demand an end to corporate influence over your politicians.

It's time they started representing the 99% of the population without enormous wealth and political influence, who suffer the social, economic and environmental consequences of corporate greed.

Inspired by the actions of those striving for democracy in North Africa and the Middle East, and similar demonstrations throughout Europe and more recently, in the United States, Occupy Melbourne will commence at City Square on October 15.

People see Australians as apathetic and complicit. Now is the time to prove them wrong.

    OCCUPY WALL STREET
    https://occupywallst.org/

Will this be the defining moment for the western world in the 21st century? It's up to you!

Some of you will pop in for an hour, others will stay for a workshop or a bite to eat, others might stay for an afternoon march on Parliament House, many will camp and spend the night, others will call City Square home for weeks, months, who knows how long. Where will you be? How will you contribute?

The people of Melbourne will be running a Speakers Forum, there will be General Assemblies based on the Occupy Wall St model, we will be running Workshops where we can have broad discussions on politics, education, equality, the environment, and other Working Groups that will facilitate media, logistics, food, equipment, etc.

Above all. We will be peaceful. Let's not forget...

City Square is our square. The streets of Melbourne are our streets.

They will be our home within our home, as we strive for a more equitable and representative democracy, capable of progressively taking us beyond the 21st century.

    This is our time.

    • The Songs of Robert Lloyd at Holy Trinity Church

      MelbourneEast Arts Festival

Robert Lloyd has served the Australian and International Arts/Music world since 1986. Beginning in Adelaide he has travelled the world performing and composing his unique music and songs.

I have a couple of Robertís albums but have seen little of him live so it was wonderful to be invited to see his performance at Holy Trinity Church in East Melbourne, a show that is part of the MelbourneEast Arts Festival.

    • Democracy and the financial markets

President of Iceland Olafur Ragnar Grimsson identifies that it is a sane choice by nations to protect their democracies by simply allowing the banks to crash and default the payment of loans due to the IMF and simply rebuild their countries from the ground up.

After suffering IMF debts that were 10 times their national GDP, when the GFC hit, unlike Australia, Iceland's banks went crashing down in tune with the EU.

To take this idea of Crowd Sourced Democracy and apply it to Australia isn't as far fetched as we may think.

We all identify as Australians, whether from the far east, west, north or south, and every bit in the middle of this country. Our geological wealth is being sucked out of the country with relatively poor returns to the national coffers and our economy is tortured by global financial and economic organisations that would
