Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principal of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.
This is the third and final part of the Life & Times of Nora Kevan. Born in 1922 in Liverpool, we followed her story as a young girl and how she joined the WRAFS when WWII came, and, how she met her husband, John. Now in Australia after the end of the war, we pick up with Nora talking about their early times in Australia.
Living in a small accommodation behind a butchers shop in country Victoria, eventually she and John end up in and around Melbourne, where Nora shares stories about the good and bad times they experienced in setting up a new life. We listen to her stories of journey in and outside Australia and share in the story of John’s passing from diabetes, and her life since his passing.
