Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principal of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.

This is a repeat pgm that was originally aired in 2002. At that time Les Tomlins was 80 years of age. Les recalls life in and around Manchester and like many English people who lived around the time of the Great depression, Les talks about typical meals, such as the family buying the scrapings from the fish and chip shop for their dinner. Les married three times and his words it was three times lucky! Yet as we learn Les comes to Australia alone, only to return to the UK and reconnect with his third wife, Joan. The story behind all this is quite fascinating.

Sadly Joan, his 3rd wife dies while they were in the UK, and we learn the circumstances that brought Les back to Australia, where he lived with his son, and arrangement that has worked very well.
