    Too Rack and Ruin Times Dezzy’s Blog Featured Writer

    In 1983 Peter Tosh and his MIGHTY ‘Word Sound and Power’ Band came to Australia.

    My Afri-Cool Afro Caribbean band of Randy and Jah-Roots was chosen for the support act and we got to meet the Great prophet, Bob Marley’s first Singing Partner, and we ‘hanged out’ MARN!!

    After the concert at The Myer Music Bowl summa da Brederen graced us with their presence at our very humble gig at ‘The St Kilda Inn’ a Polynesian ‘respite’ near Acland St. (Brother Peter declined as he is very anti-alcohol).

    Later we were hungry so we took our eminent guests for a snack.

    We chose Leo’s Spaghetti Bar in Fitzroy St, mainly because it was open Rastafarians are vegetarian as a Religious default and some Rastas are Vegan and a lot of Jamaican lads I have met like to ‘debate about it’!!

    Some of the Rastas wanted fish!! Why do vegetarians eat fish? ..

    ’’Different World Marn’’ was a reply I and I got.

    Fish arrived.

    Rasta Star back-up Singer for Mick Jagger’s buddy---the Great Peter TORCH asked poor old Leo’s waiter at 2 AM…’’Excuse I and I Mon!...Is dis a scavenger fish Sah??!!”

    I was a 12 year veteran at Leo’s Spaghetti Bar for the graveyard shift after gigs. Was I gonna lose FACE?? We all went quiet as we listened in awe to this idealogical pursuit….!!
    What’s gonna happen??

    My favourite lovely old Mediteranean Waiter,.. gentle Enzo replied…”It’s a da fee-esh Marn!! Crikey!!”

      Thank you all our Italian, Greek, Lebanese, East Asian and Sri Lankan friends!! For bringing us the good tucker, (food) and some mighty fine swear words too.

      My best friend at primary Nun’s school was Dominico Vespucci and he was the first real Italian I had ever met too. His front yard was all concrete and somehow they grew tomatoes out of it.
