  • Self Care Sunday

    Self Care Sunday

I’m suggesting to clients that self care is as important as brushing your teeth and we include a strategy as part of any business, career, relationship or parenting program. Don’t let yourself get to burn out before you make the choice to look after yourself. The quality of your work and ability to be present mindfully in life will greatly increase if you are gentle, kind and loving with yourself.

Here are some tips to help you begin a self care Sunday ritual or ceremony:

    1. Lie on your back and watch the clouds go by.
    2. Goof around for a bit, make time for play several times throughout the day.
    3. Get out of your comfort zone, talk to a stranger, give someone an unsolicited compliment, try something new.
    4. Enjoy a meal with a group of friends, talking, eating and sharing something pleasurable is a great way to increase your positive emotions.
    5. Be creative, make something.
    6. Plant something in your garden, get your

    The art of change

    Anderson Park, Hawthorn East

    A
utumn has arrived, and we’re at the beginning of a transition. It is still warm in Melbourne, but soon we’ll see the changes in colour, falling of leaves, night-time coming earlier and the temperature getting notably cooler. With all this natural change that sets in every year it’s a wise time to reflect if there are some things you might like to shed so you can grow in other ways. The art of holding on and letting go is very personal but we all experience some form of this birth and death cycle regularly, some of us mindfully. If you’re in doubt what to hold and what to let go, ask how does it serve you or others? Is it actually making a difference or is my narrative just been the ‘go to’ for so long it’s become a habit? Narratives are the stories in your mind that you identify with and it’s freedom to know you get to choose, the more space you have in your mind the more creative freedom it allows you. Many things we do in reaction to a

What’s love got to do with it?

Love is what we all seek in some form or another, the desire of love makes us strive to go forth and the giving of it to ourselves and others is what makes us feel fulfilled. In love we feel whole and content. It is the hope and promise of love in your life that you are seeking and also have available within. In mindfulness practice we can access this wellspring of love we all have, now.

In love you’re nourished, you are home.

In mindfulness we call this loving state compassion and it begins with cultivating it for ones self, if you can foster compassion for yourself you begin to feel a gentle and genuine sense of belonging and acceptance with the present moment. Its a warm, loving safe space that protects you from the edges of life and perception has a lot to do with it. Because the edges and troubles can still be there but when you’re being compassionate they are softer and more easier to navigate.

    Seeing the best in yourself.

Seeing the best in yourself requires you to be authentic. Being a good leader begins with the relationship you have with yourself. Holding yourself accountable to an honourable character and making the conscious choice to do better. A leader looks for the good in people and shines light on them, building them up and good leadership begins with leading yourself. The only way to do that is to take a good within yourself and accept who you are, flaws and all. No one is perfect, we all have a dark side and done things we might not be proud of, sometimes unintentionally and sometimes purposefully out of anger but getting bogged down in the ugly parts of yourself starts to control you and perpetuate them. Despite these parts existing in us all we can rise above these limitations and when you do mess up don’t let it bring you down. Amazing things can happen when you start to accept all of yourself and not avoid the truth; authenticity attracts real connections. When you do accep

  • The value of money

    The value of money

I am currently working on some high level plans for budgeting, managing my finance and cash flow forecasting.
Simply, I am clarifying my spending, investment and contribution habits both personally and in business so I become more aware of my attitudes, behaviours and able to tweak accordingly based on my core values. I am also setting some intentions for growth in 2016 to increase my net worth. By projecting the types of results I want financially in my future and trying to adjust my attitudes about money now I am connecting to my desired outcome, having a good imagination helps and the best part is Im doing work I love so the experiences that will increase my cash-flow will also give me the chance to grow my character positively. Working with a coach on your personal beliefs about money gives you a greater space for introspection and clarity but you must be able to be vulnerable allowing for uncertainty and creativity to emerge.
