After English singer-songwriter Ben Howard cancelled his concert at Byron Bay's Bluesfest 2015 and the previously announced (and sold out) show at the Sydney Opera House, he's now rescheduled his whole Australian tour for May and June. His management said he decided to reschedule the tour to make sure he does the "best show possible" for his Australian fans, after just recently arriving home following months of touring overseas. Howard apologised to his fans in a personal statement, saying "Dear Australia, we're really sorry" about having to reschedule the tour, "it's been an impossible decision" and "really not" what they wanted to do. Howard noted they had to make major changes "for the greater good" and he hopes his fans will be able to make the new dates, promising he'd be "back soon in full force." On the upside for Aussie Howard fans, the indie-folk artist added two shows in Brisbane to his newly-r

Melb Chamber Orchestra - Hennessy's Beethoven

In celebration of his 60th birthday, MCO Artistic Director William Hennessy performs one of the most important works of the violin concerto repertoire – Beethoven’s Violin Concerto Op 61 in a five concert tour of regional Victoria and Melbourne, 12 -20 June 2015
. This concerto is one of the most performed and recorded in the violin repertoire. For Hennessy, the magic of this music remains – it is one of his most loved violin concertos, one that allows him to bring all his imagination and musicality to the fore. ‘For decades I have been deeply committed to pursuing what is the most free and natural way to play the violin, in the process earning the possibility of ever richer expressiveness and personal communication through music’, says William Hennessy. ‘I have been blessed with good health, opportunity and good luck so find myself in the delightful position of performing the greatest violin concerto at the most aware time of my life; body and soul having made accomm

  • VIOLENT SOHO announce biggest headline tour to date with special guests THE SMITH STREET BAND

“We sit around on couches, buying what we think makes us who we are, like a hungry ghost”, it was these words from Kalle Lasn’s book Culture Jam that resonated with Violent Soho’s Luke Boerdam and acted as a major influence on him while penning the Mansfield (4122) band’s highly acclaimed third record, Hungry Ghost, which has subsequently lead to ‘Soho’ (as their loyal fans refer to them as) enjoying a whirlwind of success over the last nine months. Today we’re very psyched to announce that rather than slowing down, Violent Soho will be heading out on their biggest national tour to date this July and taking Melbourne’s The Smith Street Band with them as special guest supports – a tour that promises to wow crowds all over the country and have kids jumping from everything in sight. It’s a funny thing how 11 songs can make such a difference for a band, even one who has experienced as much as Violent Soho have (now in their 10th year as a band) such as signing to the Thurston Mo...
