    ANTENNA FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES KEY DATES AND 2012 COMPETITION


    Into Eternity - Winner 2011 Antenna International Documentary Film Festival returns for its second year and will take place between the 10th to 14th October, in Sydney. Hosted at Dendy Cinemas, Antenna 2012 will showcase over 30 feature length documentaries from around the world, film competitions, special events and international guests. Over five days, the documentary film festival will share the creative talents of local and international filmmakers and allow the public to experience the best contemporary documentary cinema from around the world. "This festival was created due to the increase in popularity of documentaries worldwide. We felt that there was a need for a documentary festival in Australia and the high attendance of people proved this. Following on the success of our first year, we are creating a 2012 film program that will encourage audiences to look at the world around them in a new light. ...

    40th HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL A RESOUNDING SUCCESS


    The only thing missing was an Australian presence

    Crowds flocked to the concluding ceremony held in the open air behind the Hong Kong Cultural Centre overlooking a resplendent Victoria Harbour last Sunday. They were there to see the actors and directors who won awards, parade before the public. Thrilled with the vast array of great films that were shown throughout the duration of the festival, there was one in particular that deeply touched a chord with Hongkongers in particular, along with international guests and film lovers, and has sent a wave of intense interest around the world. In a very real sense, the winner of the Best Film Award, is one which carries a great rags to riches, a David and Goliath message, that given the will and determination to achieve a goal in life, once the first step is taken along the path, great achievements and unexpected results can and do arise.     While we wait and see if another theatre comes our way, we continue to take the cinema to the people and the great outdoors through our outdoor cinema co. Blow Up Cinema. This summer’s just too good to be stuck in a cinema anyway!

    Working with local councils bringing free, family films to Melbourne parks, bringing a cinema to the middle of a city square (QV Melb) or creating a lovely outdoor cinema/market in Balnarring; here’s a taste of what we’re putting on over the summer months.
    A SUMMER OF BLOW UP CINEMA



    We launched Stringybark Cinema last Saturday to a sold-out screening of Back To The Future and we continue with other classics such as Stand By Me (this Sunday), The Blues Brothers, Muriel’s Wedding and more, all set amongst the majestic stringybark gums at Emu Plains Reserve, Balnarring. With the gates opening at 6.30pm, come early and reserve a deck chair, grab something to eat from a variety of food trucks, have a drink of some pe

    ST KILDA FILM FESTIVAL'S 2015 NOMINATIONS



    Australia's longest-standing and publicly owned short film festival, St Kilda Film Festival, has today announced this year's award nominees who are in the running for more than $50,000 worth of cash and prizes across 16 categories.

    As an ACADEMY AWARDS® qualifying event, the winners of this year's Best Short Film and Best Documentary are eligible for consideration in the OSCARS® Short Film and OSCARS® Documentary Shorts Award categories.

    The 2015 St Kilda Film Festival's most prestigious title of Best Short Film will see one of four nominees take home a $10,000 cash prize courtesy of the City of Port Phillip. This year's nominees for Best Short Film are A Single Body, Grey Bull, Rabbit and The Wonderful.

    This marks the first time in the St Kilda Film Festival's 32-year history that the winner for Best Documentary will be considered for the esteemed international awards and nominees

    For the second year running, Palm Springs International ShortFest will bring a selection of its best entries from the last two years to the St Kilda Film Festival through four exclusive showcases.

    The Palm Springs International ShortFest is renowned worldwide for the extraordinary community of filmmakers it attracts and for the quality and scope of its programming, screening more than 300 films from over 50 countries this year.
