    Country Notes – Gary Turner



    Australia's premier country music duo, McAlister Kemp (Drew McAlister & Troy Kemp) last week continued a remarkable year, receiving their very first ARIA Awards nomination in the category of Best Country Album.

    In just under three years, McAlister Kemp have become one of Australian Country Music's biggest acts, winning major awards, touring and recording with international stars, featuring on the main stages at all of Country Music's Major Festivals, headlining their own shows and topping the Album Sales and Country Music Singles charts.

    McAlister Kemp won their first Golden Guitar for 'Best New Talent' in 2011. They were voted 'Best New Oz Artist' by Australian Country Music fans at the 2011 CMC Music Awards and have now been nominated for an ARIA Award alongside The McClymonts, Catherine Britt, Troy Cassar-Daley and Beccy Cole.     Six time Golden Guitar winner, Allan Caswell is one of the survivors of the country music artists who moulded country music in this country alongside the likes of Slim Dusty, Reg Poole, Slim Newton, Gordon Parsons, Reg Lindsay, Johnny Chester, Johnny Ashcroft, Jimmy Little, John Williamson, The Bushwackers, The Hawking Brothers, Smoky Dawson, and many others.

    Allan Caswell was in good company in 1980 when he won his first Golden Guitar for Best New Talent with his song King of the Rodeo. That year Slim Dusty, Dave Pincombe, Reg Lindsay,
    Jean Stafford and Buddy Williams all won Golden Guitars.

    Allan Caswell is a song monger, jingleman and performer and best known as the songwriter who penned On the Inside, the smash hit from the TV series, Prisoner.



    Allan’s compositions have been recorded by the likes of Patti Page,
