    To take this idea of Crowd Sourced Democracy and apply it to Australia isn't as far fetched as we may think.

    We all identify as Australians, whether from the far east, west, north or south, and every bit in the middle of this country. Our geological wealth is being sucked out of the country with relatively poor returns to the national coffers and our economy is tortured by global financial and economic organisations that would see us as 'wood ducks'...easy targets.

    Iceland successfully regained its freedom and autonomy by recreating itself by means of using its people to rebuilding their political framework from scratch.
    Do you think it is possible to do this here, to start from scratch, to build a model democracy that flies in the face of globalisation and the New World Order? I do!

      I have a couple of Robert’s albums but have seen little of him live so it was wonderful to be invited to see his performance at Holy Trinity Church in East Melbourne, a show that is part of the MelbourneEast Arts Festival.

      President of Iceland Olafur Ragnar Grimsson identifies that it is a sane choice by nations to protect their democracies by simply allowing the banks to crash and default the payment of loans due to the IMF and simply rebuild their countries from the ground up.

      After suffering IMF debts that were 10 times their national GDP, when the GFC hit, unlike Australia, Iceland's banks went crashing down in tune with the EU.

      Iceland is country where the will of the people is sovereign, unlike Britain and Australia where the will of Parliament is sovereign and it makes you think we may have things the wrong way around here, after all our current constitution is modeled on ancient Westminster principles.

      The Icelandic "Phoenix from the Ashes" rebirth as a strong and growing independent nation is surely a strong message to us all that there is a better way of running a country democratically, as truly the will of the people      ...

    • 'Crook' redlight cameras under investigation.

      'POPCORN' under fire - at last!



      The redlight camera on the corner of Lakeside Drive and Fitzroy Street has finally come to the attention of the authorities in realation to its massive revenue. Warrigal/Batesford Roads intersection also concerns traffic camera commissioner Gordon Lewis. He notes that this is not uncommon in 40km an hour zones preceding the red light camera. A 65% increase in the Lakeside Drive camera, a huge spike in the last three months of last year, is cause for great concern. I study this intersection and have found that local traffic is burnt and aware, I'd love to see the stats in regards to local versus visitor/commuter traffic through the intersection. I feel that is because drivers tend to get caught in a flow, a car in front is travelling at 43kph and others just folow. I have seen this light go off like a firecracker when 3,4,5 cars run trough just over the limit. It also doesn't help, that though in a school zone there are no flash...
