    Funny man Stephen K Amos

Stephen K Amos performing at Athenaeum Theatre as part of Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2014.

    Stephen K Amos
has huge funny bone action going on. From the start he had Thursday nights full house at Melbourne’s Anthenaeum Theatre in his pocket and he played with us like the seasoned international comedic professional he is.

Evenly paced, engaging, his timing didn’t miss a beat. He easily merged impromptu and very funny dialogue with people in the first couple of rows and hecklers in the stalls weaving their responses into his written script, breezing through the show like the comedic maestro he is with resounding laughter and applauses with every punchline.

Actor and storyteller, the very cultured Stephen K took us on a hilarious, psychedelic ride from puberty and beyond. There is little better than great comedy.

    Hughesy at Felix!

DAVE HUGHES headlines Felix Bar Comedy this Wednesday!!

Hughesy is perhaps one of the most important and significant talents to have emerged from the Australian comedy scene.

A natural and unmistakably Australian comic, Dave’s laconic style thinly disguises one of the fastest comic minds this country has ever seen. Along with Kate Langbroek and Ed Kavalee, Hughesy makes up Melbourne’s Nova 100 breakfast team. And if that’s not enough, he can be seen on Network Ten’s Before the Game during the AFL footy se
ason, and most recently as a co-host on the popular Network Ten news program, The 7PM Project. The most powerful testimony to Dave’s talent is his enduring popularity with audiences. He has over the course of the last five years become one of the highest selling Australian comedy acts in the country. His most recent 2010 show, Retro, was held over two nights and sold out the historic 3000 seat Palais Theatre proving that audiences can’t get enough of Hug

    I
t’s a packed house at Northcote Town Hall, not a single empty seat, and the audience is hungry for a show that is worth the hype that has and continues to build surrounding it. Led by the ever vivacious Busty Beats, this powerhouse ensemble commands your attention and has the audience, licking their lips wanting just a little bit more to savour. Hot Brown Honey, is a show that pushes the envelope, empowers and blurs the lines of political theatre.

There’s so many elements at work here, all of which together, create something truly next level, it’s not strictly dance, nor burlesque, circus nor spoken word, its everything together, placed side by side in equal measure, such a melding of styles so often results in shows that are loose, unable to hide a sense of disconnection between scenes, but Hot Brown Honey is an exception to this rule of disappointment. 40th HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL A RESOUNDING SUCCESS

The only thing missing was an Australian presence

Crowds flocked to the concluding ceremony held in the open air behind the Hong Kong Cultural Centre overlooking a resplendent Victoria Harbour last Sunday. In a very real sense, the winner of the Best Film Award, is one which carries a great rags to riches, a David and Goliath message, that given the will and determination to achieve a goal in life, once the first step is taken along the path, great achievements and unexpected results can and do arise. The film that won the Best Fi...

    KOOZA – Cirque du Soleil

A night under the big top – it’s a magical space where time may often stand still, taking adults back to their childhood when the circus would roll into town. These days if one mentions circus, they would most often think of the global powerhouse that is Cirque du Soleil – a company that has, over the last three decades or so reinvented the wheel, re-imagining this art form and contemporised its for a whole new generation of audiences, both young and the young at heart.
