    The Production Company presents their 2015 season with West Side Story, starring Anna O’Byrne who is returning from London to play Maria and Gareth Keegan who starred in Show Boat last season, is Tony. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story is set on New York’s Upper West Side in the mid 1950’s where racial and social tensions are high. There are only 10 performances 11-19 July at the State Theatre.

    Nice Work If You Can Get It is the new Gershwin musical comedy and features many of George Gershwin’s biggest hits. This 1920’s era musical features some extravagant dance numbers and glittering costumes. It is an unlikely love story between a wealthy playboy and the feisty bootlegger. Starring Rohan Browne (Singin’ in the Rain) who plays wealthy playboy Jimmy Winter and Esther Hannaford (King Kong, Hairspray) is Billie Bendix, the feisty bootlegger who is on the run from the law. 10 performances only 15-23 August.     This historically rich interview with Bill Culp, one of the performing artists and writers of the The Sun Records All-Stars gives listeners a birds eye view into the iconic times at Sun Records in the early 1950’s.

    Joan Armatrading announces last major world tour

    After touring for an incredible 42 years, Joan Armatrading has announced that she will be performing her last major world tour and solo performance concerts on a worldwide scale. Bluesfest Touring have announced that Armatrading will return to Australia this December to perform a series of intimate performances here after her highly acclaimed sold out tour here in 2013. As one of the world's most prolific songwriters and musicians, Joan Armatrading has released over 20 albums, received three grammy nominations, is a Brit award nominee and has received the highly coveted Ivor Novello award. Although she will continue to perform on occasion this will be the final major world tour. The shows will feature all Armatradings classic hits like "Me, Myself, I", "Drop the Pilot", "Love and Affection" and "Willow" as well as some of the new compositions.     Sharkey and The Caddman: The Final Show - a review



    The Toorak Times was invited to the very final show of Sharky and the Caddman, held at the Palms in the Crown casino, on the evening of Saturday 21st June.

    This was indeed the final show of what has been a hectic but incredibly successful national tour the boys. The concert, titled "The Story of Sharky & The Caddman" and it bought together two of Australia's favourite musical "sons": Brian Cadd and Glenn Shorrock.



    These two front-men weren't just supported , but indeed partnered five top musicians in their own right.
