A Little About Me..
A Little More About Me..
Early Days..
Having grown up directly involved in the events and music industries, being on movies, award winning t.v commercials and mini series, as well as skateboarding, I quickly realised that having a ‘real job’ wasn’t for me.
My First 'Real Job’ was as a Dishpig in a Pizza shop, cleaning and washing dishes. I was 12 and i earned $6.50 an hour! I worked hard, sometimes 6 nights a week after school and on weekends. I worked my way quickly up to Kitchen Hand, chopping veggies, grating cheese and making dough.
I realised that everyone else in the shop was making much more money than me... most were on $10 or $12 an hour! Almost double what I was on! But the Pizza Makers made $20!
I Figured I had to ask for a raise, Although I was by far the youngest, I was working as hard as anyone else and I felt i deserved it! 'What could go wrong?’ I thought.
I worked up the courage and asked my boss for $8 an hour. He said he would give me $7.50 and he also showed me that someone my age was only supposed to be earning $6.50 an hour. He would "Do me a favour', because I was a hard worker.
I took the raise of a dollar happily and was on my way.
It was around this time, I got a call from a Casting Agency that I'd signed up with, they wanted me to come in to audition for a television commercial. I did the audition; they told me I got the gig straight away and said they would give me $150 to stay for another hour! I was stoked! (that was like 20 hours work for me!) Then I discovered I would get $1800 for 8 Hours work to film the Ad, with the possibility of another $1800 if the Commercial were to play again the following year! - It did.
I absolutely was Blown away!
So I did the ad, drank Orange juice and ate warm cereal all day in 40.C degree Heat. I felt horribly sick after a while but didn’t care at all because I knew that at the end of the day I would be 240 HOURS (at the pizza shop) richer! It felt Incredible!
I think this was the beginning of the end for me...
I realised that there were other ways to make money than slaving away making someone else rich while I earned the minimum wage. That said, I kept working at the pizza shop and soon asked for, and received a raise to $8. Still not ideal but more, nonetheless.
Over the next few years I was offered a bunch of different roles for T.V. shows and ads, most of which payed around $100 hour. I was also setting up and packing down various events, all paying $40 to $60 an hour! For a young dude this was really good money and I was stoked, apart for the fact that this work wasn’t regular.
I stayed at the pizza shop till I was 16 working my way up to Pizza Maker earning $14 hour! Since then I have had all sorts of jobs; in retail, I managed a skate shop, I've been a gardener, a landscape laborer, a painter decorator, a plasterer. I have refurbished Yachts and Yacht masts. As a Sign installer I hung all sorts of advertising, usually at some stupid height with little or no safety equipment, among other things.
What do most of these jobs have in common?
They might be regular and reliable but they are all hard work and pay a minimum wage….
After seriously injuring My Shoulder and losing the ability to do much of the heavy work I’d been doing I was forced to find another way! I started Promoting for different Festivals, getting fliers out, putting up posters and selling tickets to events, this was great! It allowed me to travel, work in my own time and even though it wasn’t the best money, it definitely wasn’t the worst.
It was money on my own terms, I decided when, where and how much I worked and ultimately how much I earned!
This was the pivotal moment for me, it was at this moment I realised that unlike what I had always been told, it wasn’t how hard I worked that made me more money, it was how smart. Don’t get me wrong, hard work will get you everywhere in life, but in this instance it wasn’t how hard I worked in terms of running around busting my ass that made a difference, but how many clever ideas I could come up with to sell more tickets.
The Better Ideas I came up with (the smarter i worked) the more money I Made. Sometimes if I planned it correctly I could organise to be in a central location at 'said time’ meet 10 people, sell 40 tickets and walk away with $400 in my pocket not even having to go out of my way to get it.
It was this kind of thinking that led me to the internet.
Now I KNEW that you could make money on the internet, I had heard of internet marketing but didn’t know the first thing about it. I'd never used the internet for anything but downloading music and sometimes movies, I used Facebook to keep in contact with friends, I rarely even used Email unless I had to. I had no idea at all how I could make a cent online, or even where to start, but i was determined. I spent MONTHS and MONTHS searching, like a headless chicken, reading everything, watching every video I could find about internet marketing, still with little to no idea where or how to begin. I was almost ready to give up on the idea completely when my mum (of all people) came to me and said she knew a guy who she thought was doing 'this stuff I had been talking about constantly’.
My Mum was right! I looked him up and began to follow what he was doing, he seemed to be making at least 30k a month online, he was legit! I contacted him and he was more than happy to direct me to all the training I needed, my own personal coach and the ability to make 1k, 3k and 5k commissions. After at least 6 months of searching endlessly and almost giving up I had hit Jackpot, I found someone that was where I wanted to be and he was happy to point me in the right direction.
From this point on, the rest is history! I have been internet marketing ever since!!
